WEEKLY BULLETIN
PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Parents of students in grades 1-6 are invited to attend our “End-of-Year” Awards Assembly on Friday.  It begins at 9:00 a.m. in the gym.  We will be awarding some end-of-year awards to all grades (primarily academic and Accelerated Reader).  The Assembly will last a little over an hour so we will dismiss students to the parents who are in attendance from the gym.  Children whose parents will be picking them up in the normal fashion will be brought outside near the ramp for regular dismissal routine.  There is no bus transportation at dismissal on this day and no after school care.

The 7th Grade Promotional Ceremony is Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the gym.  We congratulate all of our 7th grade students.  We also bid a fond farewell to some of our families whose youngest child is going off to high school.  We thank you for your support and wish you all the best of luck.

As this school year comes to a close, I would like to congratulate students, parents and teachers who have worked together to make this a successful year.  It has been a year of much academic improvement and growth. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support.  Together we joined in “Planting the Seeds to Success”.  Our students learned much about what it takes to be successful in their academic and spiritual growth. As parents, you have worked with us as we educated your children together.  You showed your support by staying informed and helping with homework.  You showed your support of the school through your participation in the parish and co-op fundraisers.  So many of you showed your support as you volunteered for anything that was needed - from serving refreshments at our many receptions and meetings, to helping on field day, with Accelerated Reader and in the lunch room, to spinning those tales for our eager students and assisting in maintaining our grounds.

We have already begun planning for next year and have many exciting things planned including the continuation of our Math Honors program in middle school and a new English textbook series.   At the same time, we look back and bid a fond farewell to: Mrs. Jean Hare.  We are thankful for the contribution that Mrs. Hare has made to St. Angela over the years and wish her well in her retirement!

Students entering grades 2-7 will have some required and/or suggested reading.  Summer reading lists are being sent home today.  Also, students of all ages are encouraged to join the Summer Reading Book Club at the Public Library.  It is an excellent way to maintain reading skills.  Please have the children save any certificates earned.  We would like to recognize these students at the beginning of the school year.  Students are also encouraged to read Accelerated Reader books during the summer.  Students may take the quizzes upon return to school next year.  But students will also have an opportunity to take quizzes during some designated times during the summer.  See the attached flyer for more details.

Once again, this year we have more great news about our former students.  St. Angela produced 2 valedictorians this year:  Christopher Kliebert – Rummel and Stephen Lowe – Brother Martin.  Also, congratulations to 7th grader Lauren Saunee who earned a scholarship to Mount Carmel.  Great job!

Please mark your calendar for “Volunteer Paint Days” to be held on Saturdays, June 13th & 20th from 7:30a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  If we get a good turnout we can finish the jobs much faster!!  Please try to take the time to help.

Terranova Standardized Tests Scores will not arrive until late June.  If you would like your scores mailed to you, please turn in a self-addressed stamped envelope to the office by June 18th.  The remaining test results will be distributed in August upon the return to school.

Once again, thank you for sharing your child with us.  Enjoy your summer!
