PAPER RECYCLING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
In an effort to be more eco-friendly, St. Angela has been recycling the mounds of paper and cardboard that we consume at school.  In order to continue this program, volunteers are needed to transport the bins of paper to the recycling center on a regular basis (bi-weekly will probably be sufficient).  The hours of the recycling center are 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Volunteers must have a truck that will fit 3 or 4 recycling bins which are the size of a large garbage can (any pick up truck should be sufficient).  The time commitment would be about an hour as outlined below:
10 minutes - Load up at SAMS
15 minutes - Travel time from SAMS to SP Recycling located in Jefferson
15 minutes - Off-load at SP Recycling
15 minutes - Travel time from SP Recycling to SAMS
5 minutes - Return Recycling cans to SAMS
If we have enough volunteers, a schedule could be compiled and drivers could be rotated.
Please fill out the form in this bulletin & return to the office if you are able to help.
Note:  School maintenance personnel can help load the truck and it is my understanding that there is help on the other end as well.  So muscles may not be a requirement!!
Note:  This is not a newspaper recycling program and does not involve people donating paper.  It is only to re-cycle what we use in school. Please fill out the form in this bulletin & return to the office if you are able to help.

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Thanks to all who attended the Lower Grade Parent Open House last week.  The attendance was excellent!!  Some classes had 100% parent participation.  This is awesome and a sure sign that we will have a great year!

The Children’s Bingo Friday night was very well attended.  The students had a great time!  Thanks to Cristen Bruiglio and the all of the other parents who volunteered and helped to make it such a success.

The response to our first Fair Collection day was good!  But there is still much needed.  Please see the Fair Donation Flyer on back of Fair Focus for other items to donate at the upcoming Collection days.  You are reminded that this Friday is the first Fair T-shirt day.  T-shirts will be distributed later this week.

It was great to see so many parents join us for the Prayer Service on Friday.  We celebrated our theme, “Soaring to New Heights.”  It was a most meaningful way to reflect on our school year and the many ways that we will soar this year.  Each class has a special goal that they developed.  You may want to ask your child about it.

We are resuming our Scrip Gift Card program again this year.  The profits from this program go toward helping to defray budget costs, which in turn could help to keep tuition increases to a minimum.  Orders will be placed weekly (if the demand permits) with the first order due on Thursday, September 9th.  Please make your plans to use this program.  Here are a few tips on using the program:
1.$2 Baskin Robbins gift certificates make great party favors
2.Large purchases for Starbucks and Toys R Us can be redeemed at the store for smaller “gift size” gift cards
3.Consider getting cards to do your regular weekly grocery shopping and gasoline costs.  Cards need not be just for gifts.
Please see further information attached to the bulletin. More suggestions on ways to use the program will be forthcoming in subsequent bulletins.
