PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

What a busy and wonderful Catholic Schools Week we had!!

Congratulations to Mr. James and the girls’ basketball team.  They are the East Jefferson Champions after winning their game on Friday.  Today they move to the archdiocese level and have a play-off game today.  Good luck, girls!

Congratulations also to our second graders on receiving the Sacrament of 1st Penance last week.  Thanks to Mrs. Casebonne, Sr. Paula and our 2nd grade teachers for making it such a special event.  Thanks also to our 3rd grade moms who helped with the reception.

Grandparents Day was a huge success!  The children were so excited to share their school with their grandparents.  Thanks for your support of this wonderful day.

The Father/Daughter Dance was another special event held this weekend.  Dads and daughters seemed to really enjoy themselves as they had an opportunity to spend some quality time together. (Dads might need some tutoring from their daughters on Hoola Hoop 101!!! )  Thanks to Anne Troutman, the Family Life Committee and all of the people who helped to make the event so memorable.  Thanks also to Marion Perret for providing the music.

On Thursday, Ms. Madere and I took our Student Council and Beta Club officers to the Archdiocese Catholic Schools Week Mass.  They had an opportunity to meet the archbishop and represented our school very well.  We are both very proud of our student leaders.  It was a pleasure to join in praise with them at this special Mass.

Our Pajama Day had much participation and was a lot of fun!  Student Council collected 173 pairs of pajamas and 403 books!!  These donations will go a long way in helping children in need to have a more comfortable and pleasant experience.  Thank you!!  Also, thanks to Mrs. Hurd and the Student Council for coordinating the event.

Please be reminded of the parking laws on Melody Drive.  The “school-side” of Melody Dr. is a “no parking” zone.  Please do not leave your car unattended on this side for any length of time at any time.  Also, if you arrive to the car line prior to 7:45 in the morning, please do not block any driveways while you are waiting.  It would be best to wait opposite the commercial building parking lot to be safe.

Mardi Gras is quickly approaching! The school parade is Friday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m.  Participation is as follows:
Kindergarten and Pre-K-4 are pulled in wagons by their big buddies.
1st & 2nd grade students walk in the parade.
Big Friends help pull the wagons.
Congratulations to the King and Queen of our parade: Nicholas and Grace Long.  They won the Gumbalaya Auction in the Spring and will lead our Mardi Gras parade.
More information is forthcoming through the teachers.  The rest of the students are spectators.  It will be a dress-down day (purple, green and gold) for the whole school.
