Extracurricular Activities
The Student Council is a leadership as well as a service organization at St. Angela Merici School.
Basic and advanced chess are taught. Students have opportunities to participate in various tournaments.
GIRL SCOUTS
Girl Scouts are divided into Daisy Girl Scouts (ages 5-6), Brownie Girl Scouts (ages 6-8), Junior Girl Scouts (ages 8-11).
St. Angela Merici School is a chartered BSA school with the Cub Scout "Pack 30". It is a family- and home-centered program for boys in the first through fifth grade.
Troop 45 is sponsored by
St Angela Merici Catholic Church in Metairie, Louisiana.
We are part of the Southeast Louisiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
In order to provide St. Angela Merici School students with a wide variety of experiences the following activities are available:
ALTAR SERVERS
5th - 8th grade girls and boys who assist at both Parish and School Mass.
The Archdiocesan Band Program is offered to interested students from 4th - 8th grade. The 3rd grade students learn to play the "precorder" as an introduction to musical instruments. The band performs at various school functions and at special concerts.
CATHOLIC SCHOOL ATHELIC LEAGUE (CSAL)
Middle school boys participate in basketball, flag football and cabbage ball with an abbreviated volleyball season. Middle school girls participate in volleyball, basketball and cabbage ball with an abbreviated flag football season.
CHALLENGE PROGRAM
Qualified 2nd - 4th grade students particpate in this accelerated program.
St. Angela Merici School
A Catholic Elementary and Middle School (PreK- 7)
The squad is open to middle school girls. The cheerleaders cheer at athletic games and pep rallies and participate in cheerleader competiton.
4th - 8th grade students may participate in choir. The choir sings at school Masses, at the Sunday "Scout" Masses and at other various seasonal celebrations.
CYO
Catholic Youth Organization is offered to all teens in 7th grade up.
A major performance is held each year for the public. Try-outs are open to varying grade levels.
