St. Angela’s 14th Grammar Ball Season 2006
This is an invitation to participate in the 2006 Grammar Ball basketball program at St. Angela. This program is open to St. Angela Merici students as follows: Boys and Girls grades 2-7. Please complete the attached application and return it to the school no later than Tuesday, September 5, 2006.
Evaluations will be held on Saturday, September 9th, as follows: 2nd and 3rd graders, 9:00-10:00am; 4th and 5th graders, 10:00-11:00 am, 6th and 7th graders, 11:00-12:00 Noon.
Teams will be picked during the second week of September. Your child’s coach will contact you concerning the team they are selected to play on at that time.
We will play an 8 game season against teams from St. Dominic and St. Pius X and possibly other schools. The game are played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday from the last weekend of September to the end of November. (Before Thanksgiving)
For those of you who are new to this program, Grammar Ball is an extra-curricular activity that is run entirely by parent volunteers at the participating schools. The games are “real” basketball games officiated by paid officials. There is no won-loss record or league championship for this program.
The St. Angela teams consist of 7-11 players divided into grade classifications. For instance, the program has 3 leagues made up of grades 2-3, 4-5, 6-7. No child is turned away from this program due to the lack of athletic ability. Everyone plays at least one quarter each game.
It is requested that all participants purchase a St. Angela Grammar Ball T-shirt. This shirt is our sponsor shirt for this program. These shirts will be worn to the games and other Grammar Ball functions. We will place the order on September 12th and no other orders will be accepted after that time. Cost of the shirt is $8.00 each and must be paid at the time of order.
All players are required to wear royal blue shorts for the game along with the program furnished game jersey.
We have shorts available for order. We will place the order on September 12th. No short orders will be accepted after that time. These shorts will have the St. Angela “Ram” logo on the pant leg. The cost is $12.00 per pair and must be paid at the time of the order. If you have a pair from the last season that fits your child, please use it.
We are looking for coaches and assistant coaches for some teams. Several coaches from last year have agreed to coach again this year, but we are always looking for help. If interested, please indicate your interest on the last line of the registration sheet.
We are also looking for sponsors for the 2006 season. Each Sponsor will have their business or name placed on the back of the program T-shirt. This program is self supporting and any help we can get will be used to help fund this program.
We require parent participation as each team will have gym responsibilities during the season. Please help us when called upon. We need adult workers in the concession stand, collecting at the gate, scorekeepers and clock operators. All are easy jobs. We can also use high school students looking for service hours.
