Successful Inaugural Spelling Bee Qualifies 10 SAM Students for Regionals

Our students competed in St. Angela Merici School’s first ever school-wide Scripps Spelling Bee competition this spring, as third through seventh graders took turns testing out their knowledge in the school gym. Two top spellers from each class were given the chance to go head-to-head in the final round of the event, which was hosted by Mrs. Melancon and broadcasted live on Zoom for classmates and families to enjoy. Congratulations to our St. Angela Merici Spelling B champion, Maci Williams (5th grade), who took home a trophy and Library-edition Scrabble, as well as winning a pizza party for her home room. Aria Tharaken (3rd grade) and Nicolette Murphy (6th grade) finished with second and third place medals, respectively. We are so proud of all of our hard-working students who studied and competed for the contest, and are excited to see our top 10 contestants move on to the regional spelling bee competition.
