Grandparents Club Spreads Joy Throughout the Year

The St. Angela Merici Grandparent’s Club is an impressive group that is often seen on campus handing out treats, visiting classrooms and volunteering their time.

With a present membership of almost 150, our grandparents are eager to participate in school special projects. In 2022 they completed our first Monarch  Butterfly Garden.  This garden provides an opportunity for our students to view the lifecycle of a butterfly, learn to cultivate plants and understand the importance of natural habitats. Each year they hold a Fix It Event where students, with help from their grandparents, learn to work on old appliances and technological devices.

Grandparents are often called on to participate in many other volunteer opportunities at St. Angela Merici that may arise during the school year. They staff our Ram Rewards Store, help teachers in the classroom and are a highlight in the St. Angela Merici Mardi Gras Parade. They treat our teachers and staff to monthly goodies and snacks. This year they wowed all attending the Catfish Fest with their performance “Dancing through the Decades.”

In the spring our Grandparents Day Prayer Service and classroom visits are a time where all of our students’ grandparents are on campus to visit.
